PRODI'S INFO
In the
previous Prodi’s info we talked much about prodi’s academic calendar activities.
Now we are going to inform you guys about activities hold by English Study
Program and E-station. Prodi and E-station always facilitate some positive
activities for students to enhance their knowledge and ability. Check this out
guys; the first agenda was “talk show”. This agenda facilitated students to
strengthen their knowledge in certain topic. At the moment all students in
English Study Program enthusiastically follow the agenda. The topic was “Akhlakul
Kharimah in academic area”. Before keynote speaker gave the explanation, some
lecturers of English Study Program gave motivation to students how to be a good
Muslim and how to be success students in academic side.
In her motivation Mrs.
Lefy Noviyenti M.Pd emphasized that students must be strong facing their future through
education. Meanwhile, Mr. Sakut Anshori M.Hum as the Head of PBI suggested students more seriously
in learning. He recommended students to do positive activities besides
studying. The other lecturers pointed about students’ attitude toward their
academic activities. Come up with keynote speaker information, Mr Iksan nul
hakim was the keynote speaker who delivered very nice explanation at that time.
He gave a lot of information about the way to be a good Muslim. During the agenda, the committee led students to
perform their sense of art. For instance; singing, reading poetry etc. By this
activity, hope that students could have strong motivation to study and have good attitude
toward their academic business. We had a very meaningful time.
Speaking is
one of important aspect in English. Improving your
English speaking skills will help you communicate more easily and effectively.
But how do you become a more confident English must be thought by all students
specially who learn English actively. In speaking area you should practice your
English as much as possible. Connected to the
purpose of Speaking above, English Study program supported by Kepala Desa Air Lanang. It was holding on April 2015, students in
English study program get really rare opportunities. Some foreign students came
to STAIN Curup to share about their experience in learning Indonesian culture
especially about Rejang Lebong. Those Students who lead by Mr. Joshua had some
project to be accomplished.
They are from America and Their project were to
explore Indonesian culture and do some educational trip to many places around
Bengkulu. The result would be reported and presented in paper work to the
audience in their country. In this
occasion students in English study program had a change to practice their
speaking directly to the native speaker. This activities toke 2 hours meeting.
The students divided into several groups each group consist of 5 to 6 persons.
The
native speaker joined in each group to share their opinion about Indonesia.
During the meaningful, students made a conversation to strengthen their
confidence and pronunciation. All students felt comfortable in having this nice
experience. They look enthusiastic asking about American students activities in
Bengkulu. In the end of the meeting
American students gave some tips in speaking they are; first, practice where
you can and when you can. Second, it’s important to build your confident,
third, try the experiment with English that you know. Fourth, try to response
what people say to you. Fifth, try not to translate. The last, try to relax and
don’t speak to fast. Unfortunately 2 hours was gone very fast. Time to American
students came back to Bengkulu because they had to prepare to next agenda. That
was amazing opportunities.
Next agenda was art on the weekend. The art on the weekend hold by E-station was truly and
amazing event. This was one day event, once a month every year, hundreds
students gathered in English Study Program Area, STAIN, to perform their sense
of art in English. Art on the weekend gave students opportunities to show their
ability in singing, reading poetry and playing music instrument. This event
gave a big contribution to create students unity. These activities build
students’ habit in loving English because all events created in English. Last
month, all students were lucky enough to attend the festival and experience it
for themselves. Actually, this is a new agenda. Mr. Sakut Anshori M.Hum as head of English Study
Program led this activities campaign. He invited students to do something
positive on the weekend because students get day off on Saturday. Based on such
consideration, He and all stakeholders in PBI decided to publish Art on the
weekend as regular agenda. The preparations take a few days only. The teams
from all over classes practice to compete in the small red stage in front of
their classroom called “Wow stage contest”. Students work to produce the best
singing, reading poetry and playing music instrument on the stage. Then, in the
week before the festival, the students were set up and the theme was prepared,
so that everything would be ready for the big day.
The
“wow Stage Contest” began at 9 Am and there was plenty to see and do. The
students started the agenda by interactive talk show. The theme was women
emancipation. During the talk show students perform their performance. The
students could visit food stand and buy some meals, watched skilled guitarist
playing the beautiful harmony, and even learned how to be successful women in
globe era. It was also a great opportunity to sample some classmate unity,
The festival was fun, entertaining and
educational. It was a wonderful way to learn about English art and celebrate
the end of week.
Kartini Day is an Indonesian holiday commemorating the birth in 1879 of Raden Ajeng Kartinone of the country's national heroes and apioneer in the emancipation of Indonesian women. Throughout Indonesia women wear their national dress to symbolize their unity, and the nation enjoys parades, lectures, and various school activities.
Lady Kartini, the daughter of a Javanese nobleman who worked for the Dutch colonial administration, was exposed to Western ideas whenshe attended a Dutch school. When she had to withdraw from school because she was of noble birth, she corresponded with Dutch friendstelling of her concern both for the plight of Indonesians under colonial rule and for the restricted lives of Indonesian women. She married in1903 and began a fight for the right of women to be educated and against the unwritten but all-pervading Javanese law, Adat . She died in 1904 at the age of 25, after the birth of her first child. Her letters were published in 1911 under the title, Door duisternis tot licht("Through Darkness into Light"), and created support for the Kartini Foundation, which opened the first girls' school in Java in 1916. In celebrating Kartini’s Day students in English Study Program
also wore national dress. It was Kebaya.
As women, they appreciated Kartini who made women in Indonesia could get
good education. Through this symbolizing,
hope that students can create good characteristic. Characteristic as
Indonesian is important because lately our country in the moral crisis. Now
day, women and men are equal. Women can be a leader even can do something that
usually does by men. It proves that kartini’s day is important day to be
celebrated.
